This modern vessel boasts 95 plush outside staterooms and suites, each designed with the utmost comfort in mind. The staterooms and suites feature two rooms – a living room with a veranda for relaxing and enjoying the river’s beauty, and a bedroom with a French balcony, perfect for private, serene moments.
One of the ship’s standout features is the Aquavit Terrace, an innovative dining venue that seamlessly transitions between an indoor and outdoor setting, adapting to the weather. Here, guests can savor regional delicacies and participate in a variety of cultural programs, enriching their cruise experience.
The Viking Alruna carries a fascinating tale in its name. Named after Alruna, the daughter of Kjárr of Valland, the ship pays homage to one of the three Valkyries of Norse mythology. According to the lore, Alruna spun linen on the shore of Wolf Lake and fell in love with Egil, who saw her spinning. They lived together for seven winters until Alruna, true to her Valkyrie nature, flew off to battle and never returned. This tale adds a layer of myth and romance to the Viking Alruna, making every cruise a journey through both geography and mythology.
